Dear 14 year old me. . .

Hello all! Apologies for not posting a whole entire week! In my defence, I was busy catching up to all of your monthly highlights posts and commenting ;)

Today, I'm going to post something a little different. You all get to read a bit of my journal. I was reading through it last week and came across this entry. It was so weird and strange and not me at all and, well, I'll let you read it and see what you think:

May 20, 2014
Yesterday, Tucker came. He was really handsome and had soft brown eyes and was very strong. He had beautiful golden hair and it was really soft and silky. I know because he let me run my hand through his hair. He was so nice!

See what I mean? Not me at all. I was freaking out by the time I read that, frantically digging through my memory trying to remember when and why this had happened. And who!! Finally, I gave up remembering, returned to my journal, and realized that there was more to the entry:

There were only two problems. First, he was wet. Second, he had burrs in his tail.

Tail??!

Yes, Tucker is a dog. I hope you didn't think I was describing a boy! You should know by now that I'm not that type of girl!

If you're wondering how Tucker came here, I'll tell you. He just came. He wandered away from his owners and came here. We called the wonders and a man came to pick him up. And Tucker really IS very strong. He kept dragging me everywhere after I put him on the leash!

Goodnight!

*sigh*
Dear 14 year old me. . .

Why???

xD

Has your younger self 'scared' you before like that? Or made you wonder, "Now why did you do that?!" ;P
Do you like to journal? If so, do you also enjoy reading entries from years back?

  3. Hahaha, I love this!! (My brother's name isTucker XD) I'm not very active with keeping a journal, but I have found some cringe-worthy stuff. It's horrid! Loved the post, Blessing! The perfect title reminds me of the song by MercyMe, "Dear a Younger Me". Have you heard it?

Also...I just realized on your archive that this is your 100th post so far this year!!! :D Congrats!

Haha, thanks! No, actually, I've never heard of "Dear a Younger Me". I'll have to look it up!

Wait - it is? *goes and looks* OH, IT IS! xD (not very observant of my own blog, am I? :P) Thank you so much, Faith! :-)

  4. Haha, that's super funny, Blessing! I must admit I have some pretty...interesting journal entries. I cringe rereading them sometimes! Once (a long, long, time ago) I was mad because my parents had gone somewhere and my older sisters (in my opinion) were being "unfair". I wrote something along the lines of "And now I'm stuck at home with my mean sisters." And then apparently some time later I had gone back (with a pen) and scratched a line through that sentence and underneath written "I'm sorry I wrote mean sisters." lol 😂

    1. Oh my goodness, YES!! You do that too?! ;) It's so funny to go back and see angry scrawls that were replaced with neat little "actually it wasn't that bad" sort of things ;P

  5. That's so funny, Blessing! :) Thanks for sharing! :D
I keep a journal too, and it's so fun to look back over the entries. Although sometimes I've wondered why I wrote certain things down. ;)

    1. Definitely with you there, Rebekah! I mean, there are some really interesting and fun journal entries, but there are others that make me just go "Why on EARTH would I write THAT?" xD

  7. Oh, boy. That is too funny! :P I haven't gone back to read any of my journals for quite a long time. But I didn't start until I was 18 or so. Probably means I didn't have any of the really crazy things I probably would have written had I been writing earlier. ;)

    1. Oh, haha, that's funny Rebekah! I don't know if I'd still write silly things when I'm 18. . . right now it doesn't seem as if my writings are silly, but when I'm older I might look back and go "16 years old and STILL writing nonsense?" :P

  8. Oh! This was funny!!! :) And yes, I'm sure there are some parts in my old journals that have made me want to cry "Why?" at my younger self. Old journals can be very embarrassing sometimes (especially in those places where I know I was trying to sound grown up. *cringe*). My favorite journals to read over are probably the ones I wrote when I was around 8 or 9. My spelling is SO bad in them that it's really quite hilarious. :)

    Fun post!

    1. YES!! Trying to sound grown up and completely failing!Been there, done that xD

Hehe, yeah, spelling can pose a problem at times ;P Never stops you from just writing whatever though! :D

  9. Oh, I loved this!!! It made me laugh. ;)
I used to journal when I was a lot younger, between 8-13 y/o. I go back and read it and cringe. IT'S AWFUL! What's even worse is the fact that I *tried* to sound sophisticated, so most of it is my trying to write a cross between old English sentence structure and how I thought grownups would write. *hides* No one will ever, ever, EVER see them.
Expect my younger sisters who got a hold of them one day, read through them, and still tease me to no end. :P
Anyway, thanks for posting!!! I enjoyed it! :)

Hi! Thanks for stopping by! :)
I LOVE comments, so please do leave one! I will try and reply as soon as possible :D If you comment under Anonymous, please leave a name (it can be made up or real, your choice ;)
Oh, and as you all probably know, my family and I are under pseudonyms (you didn’t really think I had a brother named Spiderman or Ironman, did ya? We’re weird, but not 'that' weird! :P) If you do know our real names, please don’t say it in the comment box. Public safety stuff ;) Thanks!

Finally, brothers (and sisters!), whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things
