Hello everyone! I thought I'd show you the latest achievement that my family did together this past week. It was moving 3 bush-cords of wood (1 bush cord is 4 ft x 4 ft x 8 ft stacked) and putting them into neat stacks by the house. It does seem like a lot of work, but this is actually a lot less work than usual. This year we bought the wood, but past years Dad would cut the trees, split the logs and we (the children and Mom) would haul it. The distance we had to carry the wood depended on where Dad chose to fell the tree, and believe me, sometimes it wasn't at all close to the house. One year we had to haul several bush-cords over two (big) hills (which, by the way, didn't have a cleared path through it). We walked so many times over those two hills that we ended up trampling down a firm, clearly seen path!
So in a way, we had a break this year. We only had to take the wood around the corner of the house and stack it all up. Still, we surprised ourselves by finishing it all in
one day! Everyone was so happy! And it really is true, many hands make light work!

I tried to capture the enormous size of the pile
but it was little hard. This is only 2/3 of the wood.
The other third was delivered later on. |

We were playing around before we actually began
the work of hauling and stacking. |
